#inktober Day 3-Figure Drawing Sketches (nudes)

Here are my sketches for day 3 of #inktober. I used YouTube to find some figure drawing reference videos and drew from my tv screen.

Most of these sketches were done in only one minute. One minute sketches force me to find the pose of the model more quickly. Moving from one pose to the next allows an artist’s brain to think quicker and keep some energy and momentum in the drawing session. This allows theoretically for the drawing to retain a kinetic sort of energy.

Artists have been doing one minute sketches for years and years, probably hundreds of years. It was a part of one of my first drawing classes in high school and many classes after. For a long while I would hate the one minute poses because I just wanted to focus on one drawing or I would no understand their purpose.

I am a bit out of practice with this sort of thing, but it really is a vital component to any art practice, especially for comic book illustrators.
